Ridder van Oud-Batavië (or Knight of Old Batavia) was a honorary title, granted to members of the Edelenregering by King Arkadius I. Old Batavia refers to the Free Batavian States. It was introduced with Royal Decree 1, annulled with other decrees prior to Royal Decree 15 and eventually reconfirmed with Royal Decree 36.
While the title was not meant as hereditary, it was sometimes allowed - with approval of the King - to be used by the noble's heir.
