Project Aegis was a classified research program initiated by the National Research and Development Corporation (NRDC) of Nouvelle Alexandrie in collaboration with the Royal University of Parap in 1730 AN. The project's primary aim was to explore the defensive capabilities of Alexandrium, particularly in energy field generation, following the element's discovery in Alduria in 1729 AN.

Under the leadership of Dr. Anaïs Castellanos, Project Aegis made significant strides in harnessing Alexandrium's unique properties for defense applications. By 1733 AN, the project had achieved a major breakthrough: the creation of a stable energy field capable of deflecting high-velocity projectiles in laboratory conditions. This achievement was pivotal in demonstrating the potential of Alexandrium-based defensive technologies.

The project gained international attention following the Streïur uis Faïren nuclear exchanges in 1733 AN. During an emergency meeting of the Tripartite Pact nations, Dr. Castellanos presented Project Aegis's findings, which became the foundation for the larger NOVA Shield initiative. While Project Aegis had shown promise, Dr. Castellanos emphasized that scaling the technology for national defense would require significant time and resources, estimating a development timeline of 5-7 years and a budget of approximately €50 billion.
