Nova English Paganism
STUB – TO BE EXPANDED
Nova English Paganism also known as the Old Ways, was the predominant religious practice within the Britannic tribes of Nova England prior to the Christianisation of the region in the 300s AJ. The origins of the belief system are unknown and largely based around folklore tales. However its core belief system is based around the veneration of manmade tools and weapons. Many of these beliefs were absorbed into Nova England’s variation of Christianity and is believed to be the reason why the Britannic tribes of Nova England peacefully converted.
Beliefs
The belief system is largely monotheistic on the basis that its creation story features a key figure known as the Great Smith (or Great Craftsman). However there is little veneration devoted to this figure, instead much of the religion’s veneration is towards the tools and/or weapons owned or made by the individual or their family.
It is believed within the religion that tools and weapons are capable of storing parts of the souls of those that make, use and die from. This meant that tools and weapons would be passed between generations and used for long periods of time before being used in the process of making new tools which would then imbued with any souls contained within metals used in its construction.
