The Myrynese language is a language isolate in eastern Keltia, spoken by about 47,000 Myrynese people in their own city state. It has been influenced by other languages, such as Lothlarian/Menelmacari, Juc and Martino.

Phonology

See list of legal syllables

Myrynese has three vowels [a], [u] and [ə] (written a, u, and y respectively).

Consonants are b, d, g, k, l, m, n, ŋ, p, r, s, t, v, and z. They have their IPA values (roughly speaking).

Grammar

Verbs

Verbs are conjugated by aspect (neutral, continuous, perfect), person, object, voice (active or passive), whether negative, etc.

Use drak- (stem for "to see") as an example.

Negation is indicated by prefix vy-, e.g., vydrakyld ("has not been seen")

ASPECT

Form Example English approx
Neutral – drak see, sees
continuous -u draku (Is) seeing
Perfect -t drakt (Has) seen

VOICE

Form Example English approx Comment
Neutral -l dragl (drak+l) is seen -k- is voiced to be in harmony with -l-.
continuous -lu draglu (drak+l+u) (Is) being seen -k- is voiced to be in harmony with -l-.
Perfect -ld (*-lt) drakyld (drak+l+t) (Has) been seen Adding -y- to ensure that syllables are legal; no voicing of -k- thus needed; the -t- from perfect is however voiced as -l- is also voiced

Sg indef – bral house
Sg def -s, -z bralz The house
Pl indef -r, -yr bralr houses
Pl def -rz, -yrz, -rys, -ryz bralrys The houses

Prefixes

When using the prefixes, we do not use the definite form of the noun, unless it is to signify "that one", e.g., gabral is "in a/the house", while gabralz is "in that house"). Plurals are however used, e.g., sabralr. "without (the) houses".
