Miiwai
Miiwai (ミーわい (Miiwai?)) is a mid-sized coastal city in Sanpantul. With a population of approximately 213,400, Miiwai is considered one of the region’s quieter yet strategically important settlements. It is known for its major air base, beaches, large hotels, and yacht harbors situated along a distinctive ria coast.
Geography
Miiwai lies on the edge of a ria-type coastline, resulting in numerous natural inlets and peninsulas. This geography has made the city a hub for maritime activities and yachting. The city hosts multiple yacht harbors and marinas that attract both domestic and international visitors.
Economy
The local economy is modest and centered around a single but significant industrial factory, along with services related to tourism. The presence of the Miiwai Air Base, one of the main jet bases of Sanpantul, contributes to the city’s strategic and economic importance.
Tourism
Tourism is one of Miiwai’s major sectors, thanks to its sandy beaches, resort hotels, and marina facilities. The city is particularly known for three major beaches:
- Azure Beach – famous for its turquoise waters and upscale resorts.
- Silver Dune Beach – a quieter, family-friendly area with fine sand and shallow waters.
- Emerald Bay Beach – popular among divers and water sports enthusiasts.
In addition to the beaches, the city center is home to the Miiwai Central Square and the historic Fountain of the Moonflower (Tsukihana no Izumi), which has become a symbol of the city.
Infrastructure
Miiwai features extensive marina infrastructure and is considered one of the largest yacht harbor clusters in the region. Its transportation system links the city to nearby coastal settlements, while the air base also supports limited civilian flights.
Culture
Miiwai’s relaxed atmosphere and combination of modern resorts with traditional coastal culture have made it a preferred retreat for both locals and tourists. Festivals related to maritime heritage are held annually, drawing significant attendance.
