The Micras Warfare League is a professional esports league for the video game series Micras Warfare, produced by its publisher Monster Interacive. The league operates a franchise model with twelve permanent city-based teams all owned by Floria International Holdings]. The league has a 5 team postseason to decide the overall winner of the competition. The inaugural edition of the tournament commence in January 2021.
Format
The Monster Interactive League is jointly owned by Monster Interactive and Floria International Holdings] and is the sole professional esports league on Micras. The league plays out similarly to the majority of Florian professional sports leagues with all teams playing scheduled games against other teams to fight for a place in the postseason playoffs. The league currently has twelve teams.
Each match between two teams of five players consists of a best-of-five through different games based on gameplay modes and maps within the relevant Micras Warfare game. For the inaugural season, the league will use the game modes, "Search and Destroy", "Hardpoint" and "Domination". Matches are played on PC and league-approved equipment for all players.
The three multiplayer modes used by the MWL include: "Search & Destroy", where one team attempts to plant a bomb and protect it at one of two control points while the other team tries to neutralize the bomb team, or if the bomb is activated, to defuse it in time; "Hardpoint", where a rotation control point appears on the map, and teams earn points for sustaining control on that point; and "Domination", where three control points appear on the map, and teams are awarded points by sustaining control of one or more of these points. In the case of "Search & Destroy" and "Domination", multiple rounds are played, switching the role of each team, while "Hardpoint" is played until a point limit is reached. Once a team has won three games in a match, the match is over, and that team is given the match victory. Coaches for teams have a limited number of time outs which they can use during a game, and can substitute players during this time.
The regular season includes five stages each concluding with a 'Major'. During each stage, all teams compete in five group play matches to determine their seed in each 'Major'.
Teams earn MWL Points for each match won throughout the season with additional points distributed to teams based on their performance at 'Majors'. The eight teams with the most amount of MWL points advance to the postseason playoffs.
