Intruding entities (Normark)

The intruding entities were a phenomenon recorded across Normark during 1735 AN and 1736 AN. The Government report on a sighting in Eikbu, released in the fourth month of 1736 AN was inconclusive, which did little to stifle popular disquiet and speculation in the press. The contrast between the quantity of anecdotal evidence for the existence of intruding entities and the dearth of incontrovertible proofs for the same is a striking one, and has lent credence to the notion that the whole matter is merely an instance of a popular mania or delusion taking hold in the simple folk of the country, who year for a distraction.

Nonetheless, reports remain numerous, as do the discoveries of butchered livestock in the fields along with continued reports of missing pets and the unexplained disappearances of small children. In some bailiwicks, subjects have taken to forming vigilance committees with a view to guarding against the intruding entities and particularly with the intent of killing or capturing one. The Elian Militia sought to discourage the formation of such associations, fearing that they might serve as a cover for the organisation of criminal conspiracies against the Crown.

A common conjecture remains that the entities are foul creatures emerging from out of the corrupted Bassarid lands down towards Haifa.
