Husadälur Conference
Pallisica, M.G.N-W.C. [Date TBD] ---
[When the negotiations begin, roleplaying posts will be made here.]
The Husadälur Conference was a series of ceasefire and political talks between the Military Government of Northwest Corum (MGNwC) and the Husadälur Commune held in the Husadälur valley in northwest Corum in xx AN (late 1/52 PSSC). Prior to joining the Straits Conventions of 52.06 PSSC, MGNwC forces had encircled the Commune and were preparing for an offensive to break its defenses. Following the accession of the Republic of Matamoros and its MGNwC apparatus to the Straits Conventions, both sides agreed to a ceasefire and to begin negotiations at the urging of Bassaridia Vaeringheim, which had pressed since the outset of the Corum War for a peaceful, legal settlement under the Conventions.
Background
The Husadälur Conference sat within the wider context of the Corum War, launched when Floria opened a large‑scale offensive under Operation Dominion Tide to seize expanses of western Corum. In the first part of the campaign, the Republic of Matamoros provided material and expeditionary support to the Florian advance. On 11.X.1748 AN (xx PSSC), a Matamorano volunteer force under Colonel Salvador Cueva carried out a successful landing in the northern bay and, shortly thereafter, Cueva established the Military Government of Northwest Corum (MGNwC) to administer occupied districts and free combat units to continue operations against the Confederacy of the Dispossessed. As fighting moved inland and the front stagnated amid mounting international scrutiny, Matamoros reassessed its posture.
In xx AN (mid-52 PSSC), Matamoros aligned itself with the legal regime of the Straits Conventions of 52.06 PSSC, joining Nouvelle Alexandrie, the Imperial Federation, Bassaridia Vaeringheim, and Oportia in support of a rules‑based de‑escalation. The Conventions’ institutions—the Haifa Compliance Exchange (HCE), the Straits Control Tribunal (SCT) and Straits Arbitration Chamber, and the Maritime Identity Beacon (MIB) transponder regime—provided neutral procedures for registering humanitarian “White‑Lane” convoys, accrediting observers, and filing operational disputes. Prior to accession, MGNwC formations had encircled the Husadälur Commune and staged for a limited‑objective offensive; following accession, and at the urging of Bassaridia Vaeringheim’s straits authorities, both sides accepted a stand‑down, opened a monitored ceasefire, and agreed to convene talks in the valley to seek a settlement consistent with the Conventions.
Encirclement and pause in hostilities
In the weeks preceding the Conference, MGNwC formations established a ring of outposts and roadblocks on the heights around Husadälur and positioned logistics for a limited‑objective offensive to compel capitulation. No deliberate assault took place before accession. After Matamoros and the MGNwC acceded to the Straits Conventions, and at the urging of Bassaridia Vaeringheim, both sides agreed to a ceasefire and opened talks under neutral observation. Indirect fires were halted, reconnaissance patrols were curtailed, and a daily two‑hour window was instituted for medical evacuation, food deliveries, and civilian transit under the eye of observers. The opening session validated these measures as an initial confidence‑building step and recorded the positions of major checkpoints to prevent accidental contact.
Organization and legal framework
The Conference was chaired by a neutral commissioner of the Haifa Compliance Exchange (HCE). Two national delegations participated: (1) the Matamoros side, consisting of the Military Government of Northwest Corum led by Salvador Cueva together with a civilian representative; and (2) the NW Corish side, consisting of the Husadälur Commune together with a civilian representative. Observer seats were held by the Imperial Federation, Nouvelle Alexandrie, and Oportia, acting in their capacity as White‑Lane partners. Technical advisors included one Bassaridian legal officer serving as liaison to the Straits Control Tribunal (SCT) and one humanitarian liaison representing the Temple Bank of the Reformed Stripping Path / Celestial Harmony Sect.
