Hemsford is known for producing many of our soldiers, but on my visit I found it to be one of the least aggressive communities I have ever had the pleasure of going to. It was an odd juxtaposition; in the capital city of Hemsgard, one can see the towers representing the presence of the Steel Yards training camp in the distance while one is in the middle of a jubilant celebration being thrown in the town square for no other reason than the joy of life.

Hemsford is one of the constituent governorates of the Ciric Confederacy, situated in the northeastern region of the confederacy's territory on Sypyr. Hemsford is the second smallest region by land area, but it has the lowest population of any constituency in the governorate, leading to it being the least densely populated and also having the least representation in the Confederate Parliament.

Overview

Hemsford is situated in the northeast of the confederate territory on Sypyr, being located near the centre of the island. It is located on the eastern banks of the River Terminus and to the north of the River Akkar, both of which flow through much of the island's central land. The constantly frozen nature of the rivers prevented river transport for a long time in Hemsford's history until recent developments in the production of Ferris Fortis allowed for mass production of the metal to where light and strong icebreakers can be used for river transport regularly.

Hemsford is the primary location for military training camps, which contributes to the regional stereotype of Hemsford being a warlike and aggressive region. These rumours and stereotypes are not aided by the known history of Hemsford as a predominantly militaristic and marauding community. This was largely changed, however, once the discovery of the Anningheim Documents in the Hemsford city of Anningheim, which is the event that the region today owes much of its current culture and regional spirit to. The presence of the Cult Tecnologica is strongest in Hemsford, despite its seat of power being in the confederate capital of Mourn. This prevalence of the religion contributes to a conflicting stereotype with the aforementioned one that claims that Hemsford citizens are very jovial and welcoming people. This stereotype has much more merit to it than the one accusing militarism. Despite this joviality, it is true that Hemsford is host to the largest number of military training camps of any region in the confederacy, including the most famous and largest, Site Hessick, also colloquially referred to as the Steel Yards, as well as a slight bent toward authoritarianism in the region's political sphere, even if it is still moderately left-leaning economically and socially.
