The Grain Commissioner of the Realm of Ransenar is a senior civil service position in the government of Ransenar responsible for agricultural production, grain procurement, and export licensing within the Realm.

History

The Ransenari Congress established the Office of the Grain Commissioner in 1732 AN to centralize authority over the Realm's agricultural sector, appointing Cormac O'Grady as the first Grain Commissioner. The office was created in response to concerns about food security and the need to coordinate Ransenar's growing role as an agricultural exporter within the Raspur Pact.

O'Grady stepped down in 1746 AN, citing exhaustion after fourteen years in the role. He recommended his deputy, Niall Forde, as successor. Forde was confirmed by the Ransenari Congress without opposition. Under Forde, the office has focused on post-war agricultural recovery and the integration of Guttuli farmland into Ransenari supply chains.

Powers and responsibilities

The Grain Commissioner holds broad authority over agricultural matters. The office may requisition harvests at fixed prices, direct planting priorities across the Realm's counties, allocate transport capacity for agricultural goods, and negotiate export contracts on behalf of the Realm. The Commissioner reports to the Commission for Logistics.

During the Shiro-Benacian War (1733 AN-1741 AN), the office assumed additional wartime responsibilities including the organization of harvest labor pools and the management of strategic grain reserves.
