Five Great Campaigns
The Five Great Campaigns were a series of military campaigns launched by the Jingdaoese Empire around 1648 AN during the reign of the Xianfa Emperor. The main goal was to enlarge the area of Jingdaoese control in both the Nelaga Archipelago, Keltia and Benacia and allow the Jingdaoese to have strategic bases spread throughout Micras.
Prelude
The Jingdaoese Empire under the Xianfa Emperor had been confronted with several difficult challenges: the young Emperor had accepted the Xianfa Constitution, which made the nation into a constitutional monarchy, and had been forced to accept the armistice which His Diwang Chiang Shun had negotiated which marked the end of the War of Jingdaoese Immolation. With the celebration of 2,000 Year of Imperial Dynasty coming up, the government was eager to participate in any kind of project which could restore its prestige.
The troublesome times, however, also were full of new opportunities: the nation was fully commiting itself to the USSO, and its participation in the USSO Common Market had lead to an increase in trade and tax revenue. At the same time, Calbion was troubled by the death of their King. The lands had been Jingdaoese in the early glory days of the Ci Emperor and had been on close terms with the Jingdaoese. When asked to interfere and end the civil unrest in Calbion, the Grand Secretariat asked (and received) the necessary funds to stabilise the situation.
