The Lhusan Sharamli (Sanaman for national assembly) is the federal legislature of Sanama since 1703. The assembly consists of 1,750 directly elected Pehati Lhusan Sharamlili (PLS) who serve four-year terms. All members are elligible for recall by their constituencies. The Lhusan Sharamli meet for two sessions per year and delegates authority to its executive committees between sessions. However, the assembly can reverse any decision by any committee by a majority vote. Elections are free, secret and non-partisan, but elected members are free to form parties and other types of interest groups once elected. The Lhusan Sharamli elect the members of the various executive committees from within itself, as well as appoint judges to the National Judex. The committees in turn invite various interested parties into their membership on a temporary basis when new policy is to be made. However, as of 1705, most decision-making and legislating takes place in the various executive committees, with the full assembly merely exercising oversight and occasionally repealing decisions by the committees. With the Sanamati Democratic Party having a majority in both the assembly and each committee, such repeals are very rare though.

Executive Committees

The Federal Coordination Committee is a committee on the federal level in Sanama tasked with coordination, resolving conflicts and making certain decisions within the executive government. The committee is not formally superior to the other committees, but its composition of one of the chairpersons of each committee gives it special weight. The committee is the closest proximation to a cabinet in the Sanaman federal government and its two chairpersons the closest proximation to heads of government. During 1705 the chairpersons of the committees started being referred to as People's Commissars, due to being the formal heads of the offices attached to each committee, headed by a Commissar.
