Eos is the planet closest to the star Atos.
North Polar Regions


The North Polar Regions of Eos are dominated by broad expanses of bright, reflective terrain, giving much of the hemisphere a pale cream, white, and faded gold appearance from orbit. These northern reaches are best understood as old, heat-blasted uplands and mantled mineral plains, where long exposure to the extreme conditions of the inner Atos System has softened older structures beneath layers of light-toned surface material. Their high reflectivity is consistent with the broader appearance of Eos as a brilliant but deeply altered world.
In the far northwest, the Auroran Reach forms a bright and diffuse northern expanse, appearing as a wide reflective province that grades toward the polar margin. Within it, the Veil of Ianthe stands out as one of the brightest and most diffuse sectors of the hemisphere, a broad field of pale reflective deposits broken by buried circular remnants, softened ridges, and streaked wind- or heat-worked surfaces. Near the northern center, the Eosenic Crown rises as a more sharply defined highland-and-basin complex, suggesting an uplifted or repeatedly reworked region whose bright rim materials and pale central deposits stand out strongly against neighboring darker transitional belts. Farther east, the northern edge of Taşrakah Verge reaches up toward the polar-facing latitudes as a darker and rougher intrusion into the brighter uplands, while the far northeastern highlands culminate in Sanashalros Zenith, a pale elevated province whose broken margins suggest an old and repeatedly altered plateau near the northern extremity of the mapped hemisphere. Together, these northern named regions give the hemisphere its character as an old, brittle, heavily resurfaced expanse of luminous mineral terrain, worn by heat, impacts, and long geological reworking.
Equatorial Regions
The Equatorial Regions of Eos contain the most visually dramatic and geologically varied terrain on the planet. Across this belt lie enormous dark basins, ash-grey fields, burnt orange provinces, bright yellow mineral zones, and broad fracture systems, producing the broken and turbulent appearance that defines Eos at planetary scale. This is the most violent and structurally diverse part of the world, where volcanic provinces, crustal collapse, tectonic splitting, impact modification, and surface redistribution appear to overlap.
In the western equatorial zone, the immense Hostwake Basin forms one of the largest preserved circular structures on Eos, bordered by pale ejecta-like uplands and darker lower materials. South of it, the Sanashal Fumaroles occupy a disturbed province associated with darkened crust, vent-like textures, and localized bright mineral staining, preserving evidence of prolonged fumarolic or geothermal activity. Nearby, the Luxian Deeps form a darker depressed tract between the brighter western highlands and the more broken central terrains, while farther to the southwest the Aetheric Hollow appears as a lower and smoother basin-like region of pale mantling and subdued relief.
Across the central belt lies the Sanashalic Expanse, a broad zone of disrupted plains, fragmented uplands, and mixed bright-dark terrain that serves as a transitional heartland between the western basin country and the eastern volcanic provinces. South of this central zone, Hadash Lacuna marks a lower pale depression or interruption in the darker belt, while farther southeast the Luminari Rift cuts across the equatorial-southern boundary as one of the clearest tectonic corridors on the planet. Its branching fracture geometry, broken margins, and vivid yellow mineral concentrations suggest exposed chemically altered crust or sulfur-rich deposits along a major line of crustal extension.
East of the central zone rises Mysticorum Patera, one of the great volcanic or collapse provinces of Eos. It is surrounded by blackened aprons, reddish-brown resurfaced fields, and circular vents or pits that strongly distinguish it from the brighter provinces around it. North of Mysticorum, Taşrakah Verge forms a dark, rough volcanic province where blackened materials, branching fractures, uplifted margins, and lava-darkened surfaces suggest repeated volcanic burial and crustal disruption. To its east, Eosphoran Impacta appears to preserve a broad impact-modified or impact-triggered terrain province superimposed on the darker volcanic country, while the Dawnwarden Fossae form a system of elongated trenches and broken ground extending along the eastern side of the main equatorial volcanic complex. Farther east still, the Soranic Scarps mark a broken zone of escarpments and crustal dislocation near the eastern margin of the mapped hemisphere. Taken together, the equatorial regions remain the fiercest expression of Eos as an inner world of cratered plains, volcanic scars, mineral-stained badlands, luminous rift systems, and heat-blasted terrain under extreme thermal conditions.
Southern Polar Regions
The Southern Polar Regions of Eos are bright, expansive, and heavily textured, with wide pale plains and layered surface patterns extending across much of the hemisphere. From orbit, the south is characterized by broad swirled deposits, ancient basin rims, and fine reflective mantling that partly obscures older geological structure. Like the north, the south appears old, dry, and intensely altered, but it is distinguished by its wider lowland basins, smoother transitions, and great fields of pale resurfacing.
The immense Rosafingra Basin dominates much of the southern interior as a broad pale depression bordered by darker transitional materials and crossed by wide streaks of redistributed surface dust. It appears to preserve the memory of an ancient basin or basin-complex later modified by mantling, mineral deposition, and thermal weathering. South of the rifted volcanic provinces, the Amaranthine Plateau rises as a more elevated pale southern tract, marking one of the clearest southern highland surfaces on the map. Eastward from it lies Luminari Corym, a smoother lowland or plain-like southern province associated with lighter deposits and subdued relief. Compared with the equatorial belt, the southern hemisphere is less violently broken at first glance, yet it still preserves scattered orange, yellow, and grey exposures where buried volcanic materials or less-mantled crust emerge through the brighter surface cover. In the southwest and south-central regions, broad pale swirls and dark-edged transitions continue to suggest long-term resurfacing, redistribution of fine materials, and the gradual burial of older cratered crust.
As a whole, the southern polar regions reinforce the impression of Eos as a brilliant but scarred world, shaped by immense heat, ancient impact structures, crustal collapse, volcanic upheaval, and long-term geological reworking close to Atos.

The first of the research probes to be launched as part of the Inner Atos System Survey, the IASS-00E1 was deployed on 36/1/35 PSSC, and arrived in orbit in early 36 PSSC. Deployed on a mission to gather geographic and atmospheric data relating to the Eosian surface, the it is expected that the data collected of the IASS-00E1 will greatly aid researchers in their efforts to compile multiple detailed maps of the planet.
The probe, which traveled to within 180,841 kilometers of the planet's surface before rapidly descending to an orbit at only around 5,550 km from the surface, is designed to remain in orbit, following its arrival at the planet, for around four years. With that said, it is unclear whether the probe will be able to fully withstand the high temperatures and extreme tidal pressures which it will experience while in orbit around Eos.

Mythology

Eos is particularly venerated in the city of Luminaria, where rituals of dawn observance and reflective meditation are central to local religious life.
