The ESB residence at Manbai, reporting to the Apollonian Directorate of the Honourable Company, was established in 1710 AN under the terms of the betrothal of Hakim bin Alsalam and Zahra al-Osman.

The residency of the Honourable Company at Manbai was situated on a promontory close by the main harbour of the city, and comprised of three quays, a Zurvanite temple, a bakery, dormitories and mess halls for the various grades of company employees, commissary stores and warehouses for storing goods. The residency further is enrounded by a palisade and ditch which serves as a barrier against smuggling and unlicenced trading by the Honoured Sons of the Company. Access to the residency is controlled by a stone keep bastion which serves as the customs House, where receipts of cargo loaded and the accounting ledgers are kept. Billets were provided for Çakari customs and revenue officers within the keep so as to enable them to monitor compliance by the Honourable Company with the terms of the granted lease.
