Detention Center 12
Detention Center 12 (Alexandrian: Centre de Détention 12) is a high-security prison facility located in Kalexisse's industrial district, constructed by the National Salvation Council beginning on 28.XV.1744 AN under the supervision of Military Engineer Colonel Robert Durand. Designed to accommodate 2,540 inmates, the facility was built specifically to house political prisoners detained during the systematic purges following the 1744 Oportian coup d'état. The center features enhanced security measures including electrified perimeter fencing, watchtowers, and underground isolation cells, representing a significant expansion of Oportia's detention infrastructure under military rule.
By I.1745 AN, the facility had become the subject of human rights concerns after families reported missing relatives, including former Deputy Mayor Antoine Dubois and Treasury official Marie Leclerc, leading to persistent rumors of summary executions that the National Salvation Council has consistently denied.[1] The detention center operates under the authority of the Department of Internal Security and serves as one of the holding facilities for individuals classified under Category A of the Vermian Recalibration System, including high-ranking officials from the Vermeuil administration, Democratic Restoration Committee members, and other perceived threats to the military government.
It is rumored, but not fully confirmed, that former Oportian Federal Representative Céline Beaumont is being held here after being arrested during the crackdown after the 1744 Oportian riots.
