The constitution of Uppmanland is the governing document and fundamental law of the Commonwealth of Uppmanland. It was written prior to the formation of the nation in 1758. It is published in both Common Tongue and Uppmanlandic, with the Uppmanlandic version being authoritative. The constitution prescribes a democratic, republican and federal form of government. All authority on the federal level is vested in the Storting, a directly elected parliament with members from each province. The Storting is elected every three years, in free and fair elections. The 449 seats are apportioned to the provinces in rough proportion to their share of the total population. Each oath-bound citizen has the right to vote.
