Cajamarca (Wechua: Kashamarka; Martino: Cajamarca) is a city in the Wechua Nation, a region of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie. It lies in the highlands of the eastern Wechua Nation and is the eastern terminus of the Keltian Bulk Line, which reaches the city through the Cajamarca Tunnel. The line has carried no regular traffic since the 1757 Cajamarca micrasquake damaged the tunnel, and reconstruction was still under way at the end of 1759 AN. It is the birthplace of Premier José Manuel Montero.
Geography
Cajamarca sits in a highland basin in the eastern ranges of the Wechua Nation. The surrounding country is mountainous, and the city's rail connections to the rest of the Federation run west through the Cajamarca Tunnel toward Parap, the regional capital. Its elevation and terrain shape both its climate and the engineering of the line that serves it.
Economy and transport
The city is a highland rail hub and a regional center for the eastern Wechua Nation. As the terminus of the Keltian Bulk Line, it normally handles freight moving between the highlands and the western cities of the Federation through the Cajamarca Tunnel immediately west of the city. Since the 1757 Cajamarca micrasquake collapsed part of the tunnel, that traffic has moved by mountain road while the line is rebuilt under the reconstruction program; an engineering train made the first full passage of the repaired bore on 18.XII.1759 AN, though the line remained closed to commercial service pending commissioning expected in early 1760 AN.[1] Highland agriculture and the rail trade are the principal local employers.
