The Bataafsche Vrijwillige Brigade (Batavian Volunteer Brigade) is a Shirerithian volunteer military group established in 1712 AN and operates exclusively within the Kingdom of Batavia. Subordinate to the Imperial Forces, the Brigade is composed of mostly reservists who offer their service on a voluntary basis. Though never been formally part of the regular Bataafsche Strijdkrachten (Batavian Armed Forces), the Brigade maintains a significant military tradition rooted in the complex history of Batavia and its neighboring regions.

The Brigade traces its lineage to two historical military forces: the Kasterburger Defence Forces of the former Kasterburg Republic, and the Vrije Weermacht (Free Defense Force) of the Transbataafsche Vrystaat, two states that once held control over parts of eastern Batavia during the early 17th century. By associating itself with these military predecessors rather than the Bataafsche Strijdkrachten, the Volunteer Brigade asserted its autonomy and unique role in Batavian defense. This connection to Kasterburg and the Vrystaat highlighted the Brigade’s legacy of resistance and localized defense, particularly along the volatile eastern frontier that borders the Benacian Union.
