Banas is a planet similar to Micras with a habitable ecosystem specifically with five seasons in a given year long period and considered a territorial planet of Sayaffallah with a colonized presence in over 20 major cities with a population of 450,000 or more.

Discovery of Banas

On June 14, 1949 the YGD4 Probe made a sighting of two planets that would be named Banas and Coniuratio and on July 4, 1960 a probe sent from Sayaffallah containing a group of 10 space explorers from the private company known as the Western Corporation, these 10 individuals ranged in age from 5 years old to 72 years old and had enough provisions to last them for a month forcing the explorers to hunt for food to supplement their meager rations.

Upon landing on the surface of Banas these explorers soon realized they did not have enough training to operate the communications systems and shortly burned the spacecraft and communications system to provide fuel to heat their fire on the planet. Within two months of not hearing anything an employee of Western Corporation leaked this project's existence to the Sayaffallan Space Program which put together an emergency flight of rations and experienced space explorers to Banas. Upon arriving in Banas they found that the original space explorers had learned to improvise and had built their own structures even though primitive on the surface of the planet and had developed a system of trapping small game and hunting large game to supplement their diet.

Within a year's time the structures were upgraded to standard steel and concrete structures common in Sayaffallah and regular flights of supplies were sent by the Sayaffallan Space Program to supplement them. During this time in Sayaffallah however the Western Corporation was being investigated for a separate flight that became known as the Space Tragedy of 1960. However as time went on the group of people grew as the Sayaffallan Space Program allowed more people to travel to Banas and began sending limited flights of their own to the planet. Within 10 years time a burgeoning town known as Patras was founded with a population of 62,000 people many of them working in the petroleum fields and also in the engineering sector to develop roads as families spread out in greater numbers beyond the city of Patras.

Natural resources

The resources found thus far since its discovery have been that of

  • Petroleum
  • Uranium
  • Titanium
  • Phosphate
  • Diamonds
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Charcoal
  • Sulfur

These resources have been found spread out across the planet on a variety of continents.

Continents

There are approximately 5 continents on Banas each with a diverse landmass and wildlife pattern

Each of these continents contains territories that operate as loose provinces of Sayaffallah with their own taxation and resource dispersion back to the main country of Sayaffallah. These continents elect their own governor and send a representative to observe the proceedings of the Parliament of the Nation and to provide guidance and counsel directly to the Sultan who is able to then make executive decisions for the territories as needed and as necessary. These continents have each been visited by a member of the Sayaffallan Royal Family and each have their own unique cultures and customs which can be linked directly to certain regional customs in Sayaffallah.

Major cities

Continental geography

The geography of Banas in terms of continental geography tends to be fairly simple in that each continent is separated from the others by large amounts of water with the Shallow Sea between North and South Artria being the only sea that is completely navigable by vessels of any size as it is shallow enough that one could walk the entire 1600 mile distance. The rest of the oceanic masses separating continents are distinguished by their vast size and their pervasive all encompassing depth that provides significant character to the appearance of the oceans themselves.

Each continent is distinguished by towering mountain ranges along their long coastal stretches with small intermittent plains in between. Many of these continents experience a 5 season cycle separate from the 4 season cycle common in Sayaffallah. Each continent possesses its own wildlife migratory patterns and continent specific species.

Transit on Banas

Highspeed Train Network (HTN) in Patras at the St Patras Station.

Within the planet itself normal modes of transportation exist ranging from extensive motorways and bridge systems between provinces to rail networks and air networks with extensive airfields across each continent allowing for direct flights between continents. Banas has two main points of regulated planetary entry those being in the cities of Patras and Royas while planetary radar monitoring stations ensure that those two cities serve as the main points of entry and screening for visitors to Banas.

Each continent is responsible for the maintaining of the transit networks in their continent which is delegated down to each province. On a provincial level maintenance is handled by the Provincial Assembly or its designates and funding is provided from taxation in each province as well. In addition all regulations pertaining to speeds and road conduct are handled on a continental level which only minor variations existing between continents. Ultimately regulations are approved or denied by the Sultan in Sayaffallah on a continuous basis.

Transportation on a larger scale whether it be by sea, rail or air is regulated by Sayaffallah's Parliament of the Nation respectively as well as the government assembled by the Prime Minister. There are no government owned providers for transportation on Banas as all transit on Banas is privatized and run by various companies on a provincial and continental scale allowing for competition in pricing and in efficiency in getting consumers from one point to another with minimal delay and maximum comfort as possible.
