Ash Fort
The Ash Fort is a massive fortress that is one of the oldest structures on Apollonia. Work on the fort was begun around 1360 ASC (1479 AN) by the Imperium of Menelmacar and Kingdom of Ashinthael (then called Ashintully). The initial fort was constructed of ash logs, hence its name. But after several fires the logs were replaced by basalt blocks mined from the nearby volcanic hills. Over the ensuing centuries the structure was enlarged and expanded into the towering bastion that it is today. The massive structure spans the southern flank of the Dagoran Spine, a chain of tall mountains in the center of the Teir'Dal Wasteland, commanding the trade routes through the region. The south side of the fortress is protected by a small lake known as Greyloch. For many years it served as the command post of the dragon riders of Ashinthael when they dominated the wasteland.
