The Aldurian Aviation Corporation (AAC) was a state-owned aerospace research, design, and manufacturing company of the Republic of Alduria. It was one of Alduria's principal government-owned military contractors before being acquired by Javelin Industries in 1685 AN, an event that brought state aerospace design work into the private sector. The firm no longer exists as an independent company; its work and facilities were folded into Javelin Industries.
History
The Aldurian Aviation Corporation was established by Order 005 of President Alejandro Campos, the founding instrument that created the Republic of Alduria's family of state corporations, among them the National Research and Development Corporation, with which the aviation corporation shared aerospace research. When Alduria was founded in 1669 AN it had acquired a large stock of surplus military aircraft from the Armée Altusienne Unie, and the young Aldurian aerospace sector began as a specialty in upgrading, repairing, and overhauling such machines. From this base AAC broadened into the research, design, and manufacture of military aircraft, producing combat and support types for the Aldurian air arm and working alongside the National Research and Development Corporation and private and allied firms.
The West Baatharzi War and the Verionian-Raspur War drove sustained demand for domestically produced aircraft, and after Alduria acceded to the Raspur Pact its aerospace industry gained access to allied technology and export markets. The awkward period of relations that followed the 1685 Aldurian coup d'état reinforced a policy that Alduria should produce its own major weapon systems, further concentrating aerospace work within a small number of capable firms.
Acquisition by Javelin Industries
In 1685 AN, as part of a privatization drive undertaken to fund the New Prosperity Plan programs of the Alduro-Wechua Federation, AAC was acquired by Javelin Industries. It was the largest of the acquisitions through which Javelin assembled its aerospace business, transferring the state firm's aircraft design and manufacturing capacity into private hands. The absorption established Javelin as the leading aerospace and missiles contractor of the emerging Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie; AAC survives today only as a historical predecessor within Javelin's lineage.
