Advent of Dominion
In Humanist historiography the Advent of Dominion (AD) marks the beginning of the Human Supremacy over Micras. As related in the accounts of the Venerable Gregorius, the Human Race first established itself on Micras in the 22,552nd year before Norton, the occasion marked as Year Zero or the Adventus Domini. Because the ancient texts relate that twelve years of strife would elapse before Humanity was secure upon its new world, during which time much of which was known before was lost during an unending cataclysm of struggle, it has been customary to maintain a duodecennial count so that the elapse of twelve years under the Norton calendar is accounted as the elapse of one "Gregorian" cycle after the Advent of Dominion. This influence persists to this day in the arrangement of sporting calendars in "seasons" based around the twelve year cycle, although the barbarians and heathens frequently deny this.
The period prior to the Advent of Dominion is known as the time Before Conquest (BC), and is best considered to be an age of irredeemable chthonic darkness.
