1722 National Congress of the Workers' Revolutionary Front
The 1722 National Congress of the Workers' Revolutionary Front took place on 1.X to 14.X in North Nee City. It was the first national congress of the newly formed Workers' Revolutionary Front, the main Toshaist party in Sanama ahead of the 1723 election. Chaired by provisional party leader Toti Lampa, the congress featured representatives of the Sanaman Progressive Party, Agrarian Reform Coalition and Intellectuals for Socialism, the other parties constituting the United Revolutionary Front.
Organisation
The first week of the congress was dedictated to various discussion fora, debates, proposal drafting and motion writing. The congress was tasked with drafting a party program, as well as an election program for the 1723 election. The provisional leadership encouraged open debate and discussion. Representatives of the four other parties of the United Revolutionary Front also participated in this part of the congress, providing valuable input from progressives, farmers and intellectuals. The second week was dedicated to debate and decisions in plena.
Delegations
The congress consisted of 1,500 delegates from all over Sanama, with local workers' communes electing delegates based on their membership numbers to district congresses, which in turn elected delegates to the national congress. Workers' communes had been formed at businesses, farms, universities, public institutions and in local neighborhoods. The formal threshold for forming a workers' commune was in practice non-existent in the period leading up to the national congress.
Results
The national congress resulted in a party program based on Toshaism, an election manifesto for the 1723 election, and a formalised structure of the Workers' Revolutionary Front. The congress also elected Toti Lampa chairperson of the party, ending his provisional status.
