The Milicia de Hierro, or Iron Militia, is the national standing army of Los Liberados. It traces its origins to the exploitation of the Liberadosan islands by the Iron Company, of which it was the private militia. Much of the military structure of the Milicia remains the same. The Milicia de Hierro is under the direct command of the President of the Junta de Liberación Nacional. The actual allegiance of the Milicia remains slightly contentious, with some critics noting the apparent lack of distinction between the autority of the Liberadosan government and the Iron Company.
The main purpose of the Milicia de Hierro is the protection of Liberadosan sovereignty and the trade interests of the Iron Company in Los Liberados. The Milicia is structured into three seperate branches.
- Fuerzas de Defensa, the largest branch which includes the army, navy and air force.
- Protección de los Comerciantes, a branch specifically tasked with safeguarding the economic trading interests of the Iron Company.
- Oficina de Sombras, military and civil intelligence.
