Pyros
Pyros is the is the planet third closest to the star Atos.
North Polar Regions
The North Polar Regions of Pyros are marked by broad dark expanses broken by lighter bands, frost-bright patches, and scattered exposed uplands. From orbit, much of the far north appears covered in dark volcanic or basaltic terrain, with pale surface material collecting in colder basins, ridgelines, and wind-shaped deposits. The region has a stark, weathered appearance, with long tonal gradients and softened surface textures suggesting frost movement, dust transport, and repeated seasonal accumulation.
In several places, the northern landscapes appear rough and uneven, with escarpments, cratered ground, and broken highland surfaces emerging through darker plains. Small bright patches near the polar cap may represent persistent frost or ice laid down where temperatures remain lowest, while the surrounding dark ground gives the impression of exposed rock shaped by wind, cold, and age. The overall character of the north is severe and ancient, with large stretches of land that appear dry, cold, and only lightly modified except where frost and fine material have gathered.
Equatorial Regions
The Equatorial Regions of Pyros contain the broadest range of terrain on the planet. Large brown and tan plains dominate much of the belt, interrupted by dark volcanic fields, crater chains, eroded uplands, and isolated bright deposits. Across this region, the surface appears dry, windswept, and mineral-rich, with extensive stretches of exposed ground that show both old impacts and later geological reworking. Some areas are smooth and open, while others are broken by ridges, collapsed margins, and long scarps.
Several major features stand out in the equatorial zone. To some areas lie prominent cratered provinces and circular impact structures, while elsewhere there are great pale basins filled with dust or frost-bright sediments. Darker regions form belts and patches across the lower latitudes, suggesting ancient lava plains or exposed basaltic surfaces. The combination of cratered terrain, dark volcanic-looking ground, and bright sedimentary or icy deposits gives the equatorial regions a layered and complex appearance.
Atmospheric movement also seems to have played a major role in shaping the equatorial landscape. Broad haze-like streaks, dust plumes, and soft transitions between darker and lighter terrain suggest active redistribution of fine surface material. These processes appear to have blurred older boundaries in some places while leaving sharper relief exposed in others. Taken together, the equatorial regions give Pyros much of its visual identity: a cold desert world of cratered plains, volcanic scars, wind-shaped deposits, and mineral-stained uplands.
Southern Polar Regions
The South Polar region of Pyros, much like the North, is marked by a combination of icy and rocky terrains. However, the southern pole appears slightly warmer, leading to a more dynamic environment where ice and rock interact more frequently. This results in a landscape featuring glacial movements and ice melt, contributing to temporary liquid water flows during warmer periods. The region is also characterized by its distinctive geological formations, such as ice-covered ridges and valleys, making it a focal point for studying the planet's climatic history and potential for sustaining life.

The second of the research probes to be launched as part of the Inner Atos System Survey, the IASS-00P1 was deployed on 36/1/35 PSSC on a mission to gather geographic and atmospheric data relating to the Pyrotian surface, and to investigate the possibility of life or the potential for settlement on Pyros. Foremost among the missions of the IASS-00P1 is to gather enough data to allow researchers to compile a detailed map of the planet.
IASS-00P1 is expected to arrive in orbit around Pyros around the middle of the year 37 PSSC. The probe, which is designed to orbit Pyros at a distance of around 440,000 km from the planet, will collect data for at least four years.
Mythology
In the religious cosmology of the Reformed Stripping Path, Pyros is venerated as both a planetary body and the divine personification of fire, passion, and creative transformation. As the Planetary Divine associated with the third planet from the star Atos, Pyros embodies the dual nature of fire as both a destructive and generative force, central to cycles of purification, renewal, and inspiration.
According to canonical doctrine, Pyros emerged from the primordial ignition of the cosmos, carrying within him the flame that would animate matter and awaken spirit. Unlike the contemplative stillness attributed to deities such as Micras, Pyros is dynamic and catalytic, representing the forces that drive change and compel action. His presence is interpreted as both trial and promise—testing mortals through adversity while offering the energy required to overcome it.
Mythological narratives such as the Hymn of Pyros recount his interactions with mortals who seek to harness his flame, often revealing the consequences of unchecked ambition alongside the potential for creative transcendence. These stories emphasize the necessity of humility and intent in channeling divine fire.
Worship of Pyros is centered in cities such as Pyralis, where cults like the Ignis Aeternum maintain the Perpetual Flame as a symbol of his enduring presence. Festivals held in his honor, including Alev Günü and Orebellion, reflect his influence on Bassaridian cultural life, celebrating artistic innovation, purification rites, and the transformative power of passion. Through these traditions, Pyros is upheld as a divine agent of renewal—guiding his followers to forge meaning from hardship and to pursue their aspirations with vigor and clarity.
