Pyros is the is the planet third closest to the star Atos.

North Polar Regions

The North Polar region of Pyros is characterized by its dark, rocky terrain interspersed with occasional light-colored patches. The darker areas suggest extensive volcanic rock fields, indicating past geological activity. The region experiences frigid temperatures, though not as extreme as those on Eos, and is covered with frost and ice, particularly in the shadowed areas. This combination of rock and ice creates a rugged, almost desolate landscape, marked by craggy outcrops and deep crevasses.

Equatorial Regions

Pyros' Equatorial region features a more temperate climate compared to its poles, with extensive areas covered by a mixture of dark soil and lighter sandy deposits. This region appears to have a varied terrain, including expansive plains and occasional mountainous regions. The lighter areas suggest the presence of minerals or salts, which might be remnants of evaporated bodies of water. The climate here is relatively stable, with moderate temperatures that could support complex weather patterns, including occasional rainstorms. Vegetation, if present, would likely be sparse and adapted to the arid conditions.

Southern Polar Regions

The South Polar region of Pyros, much like the North, is marked by a combination of icy and rocky terrains. However, the southern pole appears slightly warmer, leading to a more dynamic environment where ice and rock interact more frequently. This results in a landscape featuring glacial movements and ice melt, contributing to temporary liquid water flows during warmer periods. The region is also characterized by its distinctive geological formations, such as ice-covered ridges and valleys, making it a focal point for studying the planet's climatic history and potential for sustaining life.

The second of the research probes to be launched as part of the Inner Atos System Survey, the IASS-00P1 was deployed on 36/1/35 PSSC on a mission to gather geographic and atmospheric data relating to the Pyrotian surface, and to investigate the possibility of life or the potential for settlement on Pyros. Foremost among the missions of the IASS-00P1 is to gather enough data to allow researchers to compile a detailed map of the planet.

IASS-00P1 is expected to arrive in orbit around Pyros around the middle of the year 37 PSSC. The probe, which is designed to orbit Pyros at a distance of around 440,000 km from the planet, will collect data for at least four years.

Mythology

Pyros is typically portrayed as a powerful, elderly bearded man dressed in armor and carrying a traditional Alperkin style spear. Pyros is often wreathed in flames, which represent the passion and creativity which the Planetary Divine inspires.

Pyros is revered by practitioners of the Reformed Stripping Path as the Divine of Fire, Passion, and Creativity. Born from the primal flames that ignited the cosmos, Pyros embodies the transformative power of fire and its role in the eternal cycle of creation and destruction.

Epithets

Pyros is honored by various epithets that capture the essence of his divine nature and the fervent energy he embodies. Among these titles are "Flamebearer," symbolizing his connection to the sacred fire that burns within all living beings; "Forge Lord," highlighting his role as the catalyst for inspiration and artistic expression; and "Spark Father," signifying his influence in igniting the flames of creativity and innovation.

Worship and Festivals in Bassaridia Vaeringheim

In the realm of Bassaridia Vaeringheim, Pyros commands fervent devotion from his followers, who honor his presence through vibrant rituals and spirited festivals. The most revered of these celebrations is the Firelight Festival, held annually during the height of summer when the flames of creativity burn brightest. Devotees gather around bonfires and ceremonial pyres to pay homage to Pyros, offering prayers and sacrifices of valuable and prized items and livestock, in exchange for his blessings of passion and inspiration. The atmosphere during this festival is characterized by great excitement and energy as worshipers dance and revel in the warmth of the sacred Perpetual Flames which burn in the heart of Pyralis, channeling Pyros' fiery spirit into acts of creative expression and artistic endeavor.

Ignis Aeternum

During the Firelight Festival, the largest festival organized by Ignis Aeternum in honor of Pyros, effigies are often burned as offerings to the Planetary Divine.

At the heart of Pyros's worship lies the esteemed Cult of Ignis Aeternum, a cult dedicated to the veneration of the Divine of Fire. Comprised of fervent devotees and skilled artisans, the cult serves as a bastion of creativity and passion, channeling Pyros' divine energy into acts of artistic expression and cultural enrichment. Within the hallowed halls of the cult's sanctuaries, worshipers gather to honor Pyros through sacred rites and rituals, seeking to kindle the flames of inspiration and creativity within their souls. Members of the Ignis Aeternum are known for their fiery passionate dedication to their craft, embodying the transformative power of Pyros' divine flame in all aspects of their lives.

Iconography and Depictions

In art and iconography, Pyros is often depicted as a radiant figure wreathed in flames, his fiery visage embodying the passionate energy of creation and destruction. He is frequently portrayed wielding a flaming torch or staff, symbolizing his dominion over the element of fire and its transformative power. Other symbols associated with Pyros include the Atterian Whiskered Owl, which symbolizes rebirth and renewal, and the anvil, representing the forge of creativity where ideas are forged into reality. Depictions of Pyros convey a sense of vibrant energy and dynamic motion, capturing the essence of his fiery spirit and the boundless potential of his divine influence.
