Avenue de l'Indépendance d'Oportie
The Avenue de l'Indépendance d'Oportie is a major thoroughfare in the heart of Vanie, the capital city of Oportia. The avenue runs from the Place de la Liberté to the Panthéon National d'Oportie, stretching for approximately 2.5 kilometers. Constructed in 1712 AN as part of the city's urban renewal project, the avenue has played a significant role in Oportian history and culture. At the center of the avenue stands the impressive Obélisque de la Victoire, a 25-meter-tall granite obelisk erected in 1726 AN to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Oportia in 1706 AN. The obelisk is inscribed with the names of the fallen Oportian heroes and serves as a symbol of the nation's resilience and strength.
The Avenue de l'Indépendance d'Oportie is lined with lush trees, grand mansions, and iconic buildings, including the Bibliothèque Nationale d'Oportie (National Library of Oportia), the Théâtre National d'Oportie (National Theatre of Oportia), and the Ambassade de Nouvelle Alexandrie (Embassy of Nouvelle Alexandrie). The avenue is also home to numerous high-end boutiques, cafes, and restaurants, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike. Every year on Oportia's Independence Day, a grand military parade is held on the Avenue de l'Indépendance d'Oportie, featuring the Oportian armed forces and showcasing the nation's military might.
