Panthéon National d'Oportie
The Panthéon National d'Oportie is a historic monument and mausoleum located in the heart of Vanie, the capital city of Oportia. Situated at the eastern end of the Avenue de l'Indépendance d'Oportie, the Panthéon was originally constructed as a small Alexandrian Nazarene church dedicated to Saint Genevieve in 1718 AN. However, in 1721 AN, during the height of the 1721 Oportian protests, the building was secularized and transformed into a mausoleum for the nation's most illustrious figures. The Panthéon's neoclassical architecture, designed by renowned architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot, features a grand portico with tall, elegant columns and a majestic dome that rises 83 meters above the ground.
The interior of the Panthéon is adorned with intricate mosaics, sculptures, and frescoes depicting scenes from Oportian and Alexandrian history and mythology. The crypt houses the remains of numerous celebrated Oportians, including writers, scientists, and political leaders. The Panthéon also serves as a place of remembrance for the unknown soldiers of Oportia, with an eternal flame burning in their honor. Visitors can explore the monument's vast halls and pay their respects to the nation's heroes.
