Science and technology have a rich and enduring history in Vegno, dating back even before the establishment of the Republic of Vegno. The country has been actively involved in the development of scientific knowledge and has made substantial contributions to various fields, including biology, physics, chemistry, medicine, and other scientific disciplines. Over the years, Vegno has nurtured an advanced scientific community that has undertaken significant research projects and produced numerous groundbreaking publications.

During 1713 AN, Vegno emerged as a prominent producer of scientific articles, publishing an impressive collection of over 55,000 documents. This milestone highlights the country's dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and its commitment to disseminating research findings to the wider academic community.

Research

The National Research Council (Vegnian: Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, CNR) is the main Vegnese public research body. Supervised by the Ministry of University and Research, has the task of carrying out, promoting, disseminating, transferring and enhancing scientific and technological research activities in the main sectors of knowledge development and their applications, promoting scientific progress, technological, economic and social.

Laboratori Nazionali di Caponord (LNC) is the largest underground research center in Vegno. Situated below Caponord hills in nothern-Vegno, it is well known for particle physics research. In addition to a surface portion of the laboratory, there are extensive underground facilities beneath the hills. The nearest town is Agropl. The primary mission of the laboratory is to host experiments that require a low background environment in the fields of astroparticle physics and nuclear astrophysics and other disciplines that can profit of its characteristics and of its infrastructures.

Vegnese Space Agency

The Vegnese Space Agency (Vegnian: Agenzia Spaziale Vegnese; ASV) is the national space agency of Vegno, responsible for the country's space exploration, satellite development, and related scientific research. It plays a significant role in advancing Vegno's capabilities in space technology, contributing to scientific discoveries and promoting technological innovation.

Artificial Intelligence

In 1710, under the presidency of Antonio Visciglia, Vegno entered into several agreements with Sentient Solutions Inc., the company of the business magnate Alighiero Sagese that deals with artificial intelligence applied mainly in the medical field. The agreements caused a stir in the national political scene, with the Communist Party and I Verdi calling for a parliamentary commission on artificial intelligence, highlighting their doubts about the ethics and the risk of job losses due to the dehumanisation of work.
