The Grand Order of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie is the highest order of merit in Nouvelle Alexandrie, applicable for both military and civil recognition. Established in 1695 AN by the Cortes Federales through the Federal Orders, Honors, and Medals Act, 1694, the Order was inspired by the Aldurian Legion of Honor. The reigning monarch of Nouvelle Alexandrie holds the position of the Grand Master of the Order, with the functional aspects managed by the Grand Chancery of the Order of the Federation. The financial management and oversight of the Order fall under the Cortes Federales, via an Inspector-General appointed by the Speaker of the Federal Assembly at the commencement of each term.

Appointments

The appointments to the Order of the Federation are at the discretion of the King, given the advice and consent of the Council of State for both civil and military appointments, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Council for military appointments (in a limited advisory capacity). On special occasions, the Order of the Federation has been conferred upon both citizens and foreigners.

Divisions and Classes

The Order is divided into two divisions: the Civil Division and the Military Division. Each division comprises five classes, each with distinct insignia, entitlements, and preconditions for appointment.

The Civil Division recognises service to the state through significant contributions in various fields such as arts, sciences, business, and public service, whereas the Military Division honours exceptional bravery, leadership, or service in the military.

The top two senior classes - the Grand Cordon (Civil Division) and the Grand Cross (Military Division) - receive a one-time allowance of NAX€65,500, bestowed at the time of appointment. The Grand Chancery, in addition to overseeing the operation of the Order, also funds and manages the Grand Lodge of the Order of the Federation and the Federation Museum. These entities serve to both honour the members of the Order and educate the public about its history and significance.

For foreign heads of state, the class of 'Grand Cordon' in the Civil Division would typically be the most appropriate, given its provision for recognising service of the highest degree to the nation by heads of state and individuals of equivalent status. The insignia, eligibility, and benefits associated with each class emphasise the Order's intent to acknowledge and celebrate service and contribution at all levels of society and military command.

Funding

The Order is primarily funded through an endowment created by contributions from the King, private citizens, and several organizations and businesses. This endowment is estimated to be worth approximately NAX€10 billion.
