Comarca de Basagrande or the Basagrande Region is located in western Mataba, located in the Central District under Pulau Pahmer. Basagrande has an approx 130,000 population in its 3 sub-regions. Basagrande is seperated from the main Pulau Pahmer region by a series of mountain ranges. Basagrande borders Zyrkistan to the west and Daau to the south.

The region is made up of the Basagrande people and some numbers of immigrants. Most of the region speak Basagrandese however some parts of the region such as Haxhanavaro don't consider themselves as Basagrandese.

Etymology

The name Basagrande comes from its founder, Senor Almarez Basagrande.

History

Founding

The region was founded by Senor Almarez Basagrande as he started the region as a small community of Anahuacano immigrants which were escaping the nation due to financial issues and other personal issues, the community started off small with about 16 members before quickly expanding into 57 into the next month as word spread about this special community near the mountain side. Almarez would however keep expanding the small community until it grew out of its region and had to be expanded with more mobile homes and other shelters for the incoming immigrants and also refugees.

Exposure

As the small community kept growing, its reputation also started to grow causing major unrest within the community as it used to be a small community of just a few families and has now became a resting place for people in which they have no contact or don't even know. This attracted unwanted attention from the Matabese government and caused a cleanup to be initiated which ended up as a small skirmish. Some members of the Basagrande Region rushed up to the officers and decided to attack them as a sign of announcing their power which caused the officers to bring out their weapons and start a whole revolt during the skirmish. The small community quickly was set on fire and a number of temporary houses were burnt following the revolt and gunshots were heard through the 3 days and 3 nights, the arrival of the officers also initiated an inner conflict between the members of the region which in return caused an even larger revolt and got the whole region involved, following this incident a total of 4 local residents were declared dead along with 1 officer after all the drama of the Basagrande Region. As a result, a cemetery is built in the site where the conflict took place and the Matabese government promised to keep the region safe.

Special status

The region would be granted a special status as a self-governing region with its own local laws and rules which do not abide the original Matabese Laws and code. The region has since been half-open to foreigners since the incidents and has shut all its borders to mainland Mataba as a sign of protest to the government for their actions towards the immigrants. The Matabese government and the Dauian government released a statement citing that the agreement with the local residents was ending and advised them to act quick before another major incident appears on the headlines again, signaling possible use of violence towards the region.

Geography

Most of Basagrande is mountainside and not much flat land. There are a few patches of fertile soil lying around in the region which all are used for farming crops. Basagrande borders mainland Mataba to the north, Daau to the south and Zyrkistan to the west, meaning that Daau can easily initiate an attack on the region if needed.

Climate

Most of the time Basagrande is humid and warm due to it being in a more central region than most Matabese towns. The temperature ranges from 25° to 39° in a year.

Government

Executive power

All power over Basagrande is held by the current HoR (Head of Region) who was voted by the Matabese government, Iman Fahd The III. He is in charge of all Basagrandese activites and also represents Basagrande in the Matabese Royal Assembly meetings. Alongside representing Basagrande, Iman Fahd III also is the executive commander of the Basagrandese Armed Forces, consisting of about 150 men.

Sub-regions

Basague, San Sebastien, Setubal de Masivo are the sub regions.

Unlike other SAR's and regions, Basagrande's policy is that all HoSR's (Head of Sub-regions) are to report to the HoR monthly about their sub-regions and submit the current complaints from the residents to further improve Basagrandese life and also try to maintain the all-equal policy.

Insurgency

Although as of right now, most places in Basagrande are safe and do not consist of insurgency, there are still remaining members of the LoMD (Legion of Matabese Defence) which are the main culprits of insurgency in Mataba and are a breakaway group of the Matabese Defence Force lurking around the borders of the region, some even have set up bases which were destroyed and forced reclaimed.

Economy
