The FPGPS Dunholm is a converted sea plane tender currently servicing the Fisheries Protection Group as a mobile aerial patrol base for the Nova English EEZ. The vessel was requisitioned in late 2017 to expand the FPG’s fleet and provide it with the capability to launch aerial patrols at sea.
The vessel utilises specially converted LAC Buladocga aircraft that have been converted for use as sea planes. These aircraft are fitted with a basic weapons suite include twin mounted .50 calibre machine guns and hard points to suite rocket pods, AA missiles or general purpose bombs. They are launched from one of two catapults located on the ship and following the completion of their mission, they are collected by one of the cranes on-board and hoisted back onto the ship.
