Department of Research and Development (Nouvelle Alexandrie)
The Department of Research and Development, formerly the Department of Science, is the department that establishes and coordinates federal policy regarding science, technology, industrial strategy, and innovation. The Department is also tasked with the maintenance of National Science Initiatives, Patents, Trademarks, Copyright Law, and Intellectual Property.
The Department of Research and Development works closely with the Department of Education on matters of science education and innovation; and with the Department of Defense on matters of military science and technology. It also works with the Department of Energy and Environment regarding domestic civil nuclear research and development, agricultural science and technology, and ecology policies.
The Department is headed by a Secretary of Research and Development, who is appointed by the King on the advice of the President of the Government. The Secretary of Research and Development is a member of the Council of State. The department is equivalent to a science and Technology ministry in other nations.
The department was established in 1689 AN as the Department of Science. The succesor department remained headquartered at the Morning Wind Building in the Government Triangle neighbourhood of Cárdenas, FCD.
