The Microvision Song Contest 2022 will take place in May, 2022.

This page is for the practicalities. Information and news will be published here.

Submissions

We are now open for submissions of song. For the rest of April, your country may make a submission for a song. Once April has passed, no new songs will be accepted.

Rules for the song

  1. It has to be a Youtube video
  2. Your country needs to be considered independent by the MCS by the last day of April 2022 (i.e., a claim for a new country is passed by then, even if the map isn't necessarily updated by then; if your country is become defunct before the last day of April 2022, it will be disqualified.)
  3. It has to be a song, i.e. music accompanied with voice. It does not need to have words, but it needs someone singing.
  4. The theme of this year is "happy together". Find a way to connect your song to happiness and your country.
  5. Tell Ric (over hub.mn/forum PM or Discord private chat) which song it is, submit a link, and also say how the song connects to your country and to the theme.
  6. Do not discuss your country's song with other countries. Do not advertise it.
  7. You will get extra points if you perform the song yourself or, even more, extra points if you have composed or written it yourself.
  8. The one submitting the song will be the song submitting the votes.
  9. Submitter should be the head of government (as this is an executive decision, performative ;) ), unless the head of government has authorized any one else to submit the song, in which case I should be informed.
  10. Different countries may use the same artist but not the same song (even if covered by different artists). First come, first served.

Voting

  1. Voting will last for three weeks, until the end of Sunday the 22nd of May anywhere on Earth (23:59)
  2. One vote per country.
  3. If you control the votes of more than one country, it would be very nice if you voted differently for the two (or three) countries that you control.
  4. If there are more than you in your country, it would be very nice if you included your country people in making the votes for your country.
  5. Votes shall be rendered to Ric in a private message on Discord or Hub.mn/forum
  6. One country may not vote for itself
  7. Rank the countries' acts in order of preference.
    1. The highest ranked receives 12 points
    2. The second-highest ranked receives 10 points
    3. The third-highest ranked receives 8 points
    4. The fourth-highest ranked receives 7 points
    5. Etc.
  8. When your top ten countries have been given points, allocate at least five countries as your runner ups.
    1. Rank them in order of preference, with the highest runner up receiving the letter A, the second highest runner up, B, etc.
    2. This is so that your country will still be able to give full points should a country having received votes from your country be disqualified by not submitting votes in time.
  9. Ric will thank you as a mark of receipt for receiving your votes, and mark your country green here.

Scoring

  1. In the event that a country is disqualified, Ric will recalculate all votes. No action from you is necessary.
    1. For example, if Zeldaland has given the following votes
      • 12 pts to Alphaville
      • 10 pts to Beta Nation
      • 8 pts to the Gamma Protectorate
      • 7 pts to the Delta Agency
      • 6 pts to the Epsilon Republic
      • 5 pts to the Kingdom of Zeta
      • 4 pts to the Empire of Eta
      • 3 pts to the Theta Reign
      • 2 pts to the Iota Islands
      • 1 pt to the Republic of Kappa
    2. And then Zeldaland has given five runner-ups.
      • A: Lambdaland
      • B: Mu
      • C: Nu Jersey
      • D: The Kingdom of Xi
      • E: The Omicron Republic
    3. Then we find that Alphaville and the Kingdom of Zeta have been disqualified. Zeldaland's votes will be restributed as follows:
      • 12 pts to Beta Nation (previously 10 pts)
      • 10 pts to the Gamma Protectorate (previously 8 pts)
      • 8 pts to the Delta Agency (previously 7 pts)
      • 7 pts to the Epsilon Republic (previously 6 pts)
      • 6 pts to the Empire of Eta (previously 4 pts)
      • 5 pts to the Theta Reign (previously 3 pts)
      • 4 pts to the Iota Islands (previously 2 pts)
      • 3 pt to the Republic of Kappa (previously 1 pt)
      • 2 pts to Lambdaland (previously A)
      • 1 pt to Mu (previously B)
  2. In the event of a tie, the following priorities will act as tie-breaker:
    1. Higher number of countries voting for that country
    2. Higher number of accumulated 12-point votes
    3. Higher number of accumulated 10-point votes
    4. Higher number of accumulated 8-point votes
    5. Higher number of accumulated 7-point votes
    6. Higher number of accumulated 6-point votes
    7. Higher number of accumulated 5-point votes
    8. Higher number of accumulated 4-point votes
    9. Higher number of accumulated 3-point votes
    10. Higher number of accumulated 2-point votes
    11. Higher number of accumulated 1-point votes
    12. Higher number of accumulated A listings
    13. Higher number of accumulated B listings
    14. Higher number of accumulated C listings
    15. Higher number of accumulated D listings
    16. Higher number of accumulated E listings
    17. Higher number of accumulated F listings
      1. and so on
    18. If there is still a tie, then the countries votes' for one another will be deducted from their score, and the one with the higher score will have priority.
    19. If there is still a tie, a coin toss will determine the priority.

Article discussion

Isn't it time to change the name to Micrasvision? --Continuator (talk) 12:04, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

I'd not be too supportive of this from an OOC perspective, but if we can found an in-universe EBU equivalent to be the organising entity, I think that'd be a cool way to go about a Micras-only rebranding. Craitman (talk) 12:18, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
I agree with Ardy, and I support the EBU thing. Malliki (talk) 17:22, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
