The Ḡur Ostan, also known as the Ḡur Khanate, is an autonomous republic of Zeed, organised along traditional lines, that was incorporated into the Union following its occupation by the Revolutionary Armed Forces during the first month of the year 1689. Ḡur, whose seat of government is Ganzak-Gor, is bordered by the Bassarid occupied satrapy of Zartosht to the east, Lake Erik to the south-east, the autonomous republic of Nyongolo to the south, the ungoverned territories to the west, and the Suren Confederacy to the north.

The majority of the population are of Babkhan heritage but adhere to the religion of Khalypsil, and are known as the followers of Drun. Intermittent warfare between the Khalypsid and Zurvanite communities of the region is an endemic fact of life that the arrival of revolutionary forces from the south has yet to disrupt.

The population is further divided between settled and tribal nomadic-pastoral communities, the latter of which have been slow to accept the restoration of formal governance.

The northern third of the country has fallen under the heavy sway and influence of the Ḥezb-e Tūde-ye Eura, a pan-Euran revolutionary movement, which has established a number of training camps and forward bases in the region bordering the Suren Confederacy and the zone of Bassarid control in Zartosht.
