Book of the Records of Our Ancestor

The Book of the Records of Our Ancestor is a book that serves as the main holy text of the Flemic religion. It was written after King-Saint Godrick I's death by his first lieutenant and the first saint of the Flemic Church, Heilg Rodrick Casamar, was later amended by Heilg Elrick and Sacrei Mariă, and was translated from ancient Sarnechi into modern languages by his majesty Duke Bheafrick III. The text is from a multitude of sources, some coming from Rodrick's personal experience with Godrick I, some from visions and dreams Rodrick had after Godrick's death, and some from the experiences and visions of Elrick and Mariă.

Creation

Before the world of Man existed, there was a great nothingness that spanned the stars and the spaces in between, a nothingness that was held in dominion between two great entities. One of these beings resided in the hearts of the stars themselves, a being of perfect order, warmth, and goodness; this being had no name, but it was one of authority and warmth. The other being stalked among the distance between stars; it was a being of the deep cold that existed only to enervate the stars that were the home of the being of authority, who was its mortal enemy; this being was one of great coldness.

It was then that this all-light, the authority, gave a command to the void: There shall be a new world of light and order. The light of the great authority spread out amond the great nothingness, though this new light had no substance, and was only a realm of order. The being of the coldness sensed this new disturbance in its void, and sought to introduce entropy to that which knew none. The being of coldness approached the new world of light and spoke: This world shall be filled with flawed materials. The new world gained shadow, and new mass formed within it. This mass formed into the stone, soil, and the great seas, all shifting and moving with the newly introduced entropy.

The being of authority saw these new changes, and spoke a new command: This world will be ruled by creatures of warmth. The continents were covered each with a new flourishing of life, and the great trees of the plains grew alongside the rabbits and deer. The authority saw this, and believed it to be good and just. The being of coldness reviled these creatures, and spoke: These creatures will be hindered by the cold. The great ice storms formed over the sea and blew into the land of the warm and ordered creatures, causing a great cold to be tied to the land.

The authority then spoke once more: This realm shall be bordered by the stars filled with a realm of Order and Good. The stars flourished, and the new world grew a tie to the Sublime Order. The coldness wished and envied for such a realm of splendour, and spoke to the world: This realm will be tied to the chaos in between these stars. The world grew a dark tie to the realm that filled between the stars of warmth, and this new realm was one of Frigid Chaos.

The authority then desired a people that would defend against the chaos. It spoke to the world: This world will be filled with a new people of Warmth and Order, and these people shall be called Man. Man sprang up from between the stones, and they were full of warmth and goodness, and would not do anything agains the great Order from which they sprung. The coldness grew jealous of these people, and desired them for itself. It spoke to them: These people shall be tempted by encroaching shadow, and their temptation shall draw them to me. The Men of the world became embattled with each other in wars between Order and Chaos. The beings then withdrew from the world, believing it best to allow this world to finish its course without interference.
