King-Saint Godrick I was the first monarch of Caradia, and the focus of worship of the Church of the Black Flame. He is famous throughout Caradia for his military expertise, and benevolence towards the Caradian people during his rule. Although his tale has been recorded many times, very few entirely accurate versions remain, as the Flemic Church ordered a mass burning of any books declared by Flemic inquisitors to be heretical, which included a number of books on the early history of the Duchy, that the inquisitors deemed to be 'unflattering'
