The Coupe de Nouvelle Alexandrie, also known as the L'Coupe Fédérale, is an annual knockout football competition in Nouvelle Alexandrie. The competition is one of the most anticipated events in the football calendar of the Fédération de Nouvelle Alexandrie de Football (FNAF).

History

Established in the early stages of the FNAF's formation, the Coupe de Nouvelle Alexandrie provides an exciting platform for football clubs of all sizes to showcase their skills. From the top tier Ligue 1 to lower leagues, teams compete in a series of knockout rounds for the prestigious title. The tournament format is designed to give every team an equal chance, making it a true test of skill, determination, and footballing ability.

Competition Format

The competition is a knockout tournament with pairings for each round drawn at random. There are no seeds, and the draw for each round is not made until after the scheduled dates for the previous round. The draw also determines which teams will play at home. If a match is drawn, a replay comes into force, often at the ground of the team who were away for the first game.

Trophy

The victors are awarded the trophy known as "La Coupe d'Or", a magnificent piece of craftsmanship designed by renowned New Alexandrian artist Pierre Dupont, with the collaboration of then-FNAF President Jean Brown. The trophy stands 72 cm tall and weighs 8.5 kg, an imposing symbol of the tournament's prestige. Its design features intricate patterns inspired by the architecture of Alexandria, expertly crafted in gleaming gold. The golden sphere at the center of the trophy symbolizes the unity of the country and its football community, while the black marble base represents the country's strength and stability. Each year, the winning team receives a miniature replica of the trophy to keep in perpetuity.

Significance

The Coupe de Nouvelle Alexandrie serves as more than just a football competition. It is a celebration of footballing excellence and a testament to the unity and competitiveness of the football community in Nouvelle Alexandrie. The event brings together fans and players from all walks of life, uniting them in their shared passion for the sport. For the victorious club, winning the Coupe Fédérale is considered one of the highest achievements in Nouvelle Alexandrie football, providing a boost of prestige and recognition that extends beyond the country's borders.
