Template:Infobox Law enforcement agency The Federal Gendarmerie of Nouvelle Alexandrie (FGNA) is the national law enforcement agency of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie. Established under the National Police Act, 1699, the Federal Gendarmerie is responsible for maintaining public order and safety, preventing and investigating crimes, and protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens in Nouvelle Alexandrie.
Organization
The Federal Gendarmerie is headed by a Commissioner General, who is appointed by the President of the Government, on the advice and consent of the Secretary of the Interior and the Federal Police Committee. The Commissioner General serves a two-year term and cannot be reappointed. The Deputy Commissioner General, appointed as the chief superintendent general, assists the Commissioner General.
The sub-structures of the Federal Gendarmerie consist of bureaus or departments and divisions, which are prescribed by Royal Decree or Order of the Secretary of Interior. Notably, there must always be a Counter-terrorism Bureau or Department, a Bureau or Department on International Cooperation, a Counterespionage Bureau or Department, and a Bureau or Department of Professional Integrity.
The Federal Gendarmerie also collaborates with regional police agencies, which are headed by commissioners appointed as chief superintendent general, senior superintendent general, or superintendent general. Regions maintain their powers to organize and provide for regional, state, and local police agencies, provided that they abide by the National Police Act, 1699.
Promotion of Science & Technology in Public Security
The Commissioner General, in coordination with the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Research and Development when necessary, is responsible for preparing and implementing policies to promote science and technology in the field of public security. This includes research, development, and training of specialists, as well as collaboration with various institutions and organizations.
The government also provides block-grants for additional local and regional public security, which can be used for increasing salaries and benefits for local police, establishing new police stations, procuring necessary materiel, enacting pilot programs, and other purposes.
