New Territories
The New Territories (Saxon: Neue Territorien; Sangunese: 新領, Shinryō) is a former lordship of Whales. It consisted of the lands annexed to Whales in 1689 but belong to no other lordship. They were accordingly by decree in 1689 organized as one lordship under its Lady Li Naomiai Avon-El. The Elian Trading Company conducted trade and commerce in the lordship under a licence from its Lady. In 1698, it was divided into the following lordships:
- To the province of Asara Eliana:
- Hoffenheim (望宅, Nozomitaku)
- Waiserkreis (遺児郡, Ijikōri)
- Bärheim (熊本, Kunamoto)
- To the province of the Islands of Light:
- Abendinsel (夕島, Yūjima)
- Morgeninsel (朝島, Asajima)
- Mittaginsel (昼島, Hirujima)
- Nachtinsel (夜島, Yorujima)
- To the province of Monovia:
According to the census of 1694, it had a population of 43,308 persons, making it the 7th largest lordship in population. Its population was divided into 17,394 registered Saxon speakers, 14,750 registered Sangunese speakers, 2,404 registered Thraci speakers, 193 registered Batavian speakers, 178 registered Āirumāli speakers, and 8,389 registered speakers of other languages.
