Birgesh Baseball League (BBL),(Birgesh: Birgeş Beizbol Lig), is the top-tier professional baseball league in Birgeshir and the most active baseball league in Micras. The league begins in June and ends in August.

History

The league was founded in 2012 after Birgeshir's Micrasian claim was successful and had 4 teams divided into two conferences from the 2012 season to 2016. The regular season consisted of seventy-two inter-group games. The top teams of both conferences (Living Area and Sleeping Area) played a best-of-seven series for the national title.

After Koray Aimenamun became the BBL Commissioner in June 2017,he decided to sign a TV contract with Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 and,after an agreement with their representatives,introduced a new league format with two new teams (Balkon Sprites and Koridor Reds) in order to have 6 teams in total as required. Starting from the 2017 season,the 6 teams were not divided into two conferences as before but rather played in a single league. The regular season consisted of thirty games,each team playing the other two times in a 3-game series. At the end of the regular season,the top team was crowned Champion.

In 2019,however,the BBL decided not to renew the TV contract with Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 and had to change again the league format starting from the season of the same year.

Current teams

Since Birgeshir doesn't have cities because is currently an extra-territorial micronation (but it aspires to become territorial at least in a house) the league consists of 6 teams that represent some rooms of a common house (like other sport leagues in Birgeshir).

Currently the 6 teams are divided into two conferences: Living Area and Sleeping Area. The regular season consists of thirty games,each team playing the other two times in a 3-game series. The top teams of both conferences play a best-of-three series for the national title.

Champions

Star rating system

Teams are permitted to place a golden star on their uniforms for every five national championships won.

Flag Patch

The Championship title is represented by a waving birgesh flag patch and the winning team will bear it on the uniform in the following season. This is similar to the italian "scudetto".
