The Weerstandsmonument (Monument of Resistance) was constructed by the Transbataafsche Vrystaat in Stuyven as a symbol of resistance against larger, imperial powers.

The Weerstandsmonument, in English known as Monument of Resistance, is located in Stuyven and constructed in the aftermath of the Grootu Trek Oostwaarts and Fall Schwartz-Tilman campaign. It was originally meant to be built on the remains of the Naye-Masada Fortress in Nackholm, which was used as a training ground for partisans during the Minarborian era, but the invasion of the city by Shireroth led to a change in plans.

Meant to be a symbol of national unity and resistance against any foreign power, it was also controversial as the funding of the project was expensive and could probably have been better used to reconstruct other parts of the city which had been bombed by Shirerithian bomber planes.

The construction took place between 1660 and 1661 and was eventually inaugurated in the presence of Vryheer August Baerdemans on 12.02.1661.
