Nikolaus Konstantin Emil Sigfriedsson von Eisenwald-am-Silberstrom, or Nikolaus VI, was the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Ostland. He began his reign on the 19 Dey 1711 following the death of his father, Sigfried II from a prolonged illness. Nikolaus VI acted as regent nearly eleven years leading up to his father's death as Crown Prince-Regent, as granted to him by his father upon the progression of his illness. Nikolaus VI was unable to directly assume the role of King of Ostland due to very strict protocols regarding heirs, ascension to the throne and living monarchs.
Biography
Nikolaus was born on 12 Bahman 1669 - in the Royal quarters of Eisenwald Castle - to Crown Prince Sigfried Johann Erwin Berndsson von Eisenwald-am-Silberstrom and Princess-consort Wilhelmina von Edelshirsch. His grandfather - a widower - King Bernd II was present for the birth and was given the honor, as grandfather, of naming the newly born prince.
Civil Service
As no Ostlander is exempt from civil service, Nikolaus himself was also subject to his duty of edleziel. Breaking from tradition, Nikolaus entered into the Arbeitskorps. It was there he received basic military training, then going on to work as a concrete worker during the construction of a 9km stretch of highway within the LwB-1 (Landesweitbahn-1), a route of the national automobile highway-commuter rail integrated system. It was here that he took an interest in engineering and infrastructure. However, as is tradition in the Royal Family, it was still required that he, at some point, also earn a commission in the Wehrmacht. Therefor, upon completion of his service in the Arbeitskorps, he entered the Wehrmacht's officer's school in 1691 with the intention of becoming a combat engineer (Pionier) in the Seekorps - the naval infantry of the Wehrmacht.
