2022–23 Daau Premier League
Season | 2022–23 |
---|
The 2022-23 Daau Premier League (also known as the BSL Daau Premier League due to sponsorship reasons) is the 2nd tier professional league in Daau. The league is set to start in late September and end in late May.
This is the first ever edition of the league after major reworks in the league format. Teams were required to register a minimum of twenty-two players and max thirty-five for their squad with additions being allowed to be made later on in the season.
Effects of the Dauian Reduction
Following the DAAUEXIT of 2 city states, Daau was forced to allow both states to become a free state and no longer states under Daau, this led to teams being in the leaving states unable to join the league and ultimately causing the early end to the season. It has been announced that the season will not continue and the league will be put into a permanent halt until further notice.
The Dauian lockdown also did not allow new foreign signings to enter the nation, worsening the situation. The DAFA has announced that only the top flight, the Daau Super League would continue and the All-Dauian Cup would also be forced to end early due to the reduction of the nation.
On January 27, it was announced that the league would restart with 3 teams departing and 5 teams joining due to the Dauian reduction, meaning the league would have 10 teams and would only play a double round tournament to end the season. It was then announced that the new season would start on February 4th to give teams enough time to prepare.
Format
The following key changes were made to the rules since the reformation of the league.
- Each team is able to register up to 35 players in their squad.
- Daau United II is not able to play in league cups and the community shield, they will not be promoted to the first division if they win the league.
- Players shall be allocated jersey numbers 1 to 50. Jersey number become available for allocation to new members after a player ceased to play for a club.
- DPL clubs are now allowed to register a maximum of six foreign players with no age restrictions, of whom at least one shall be of the nationality of an AEFA Member Association. A maximum of four foreign players may be named or fielded in any one match.
Teams
Eight new teams compete in the league after their respective success in the Daau League. Daau Bay United was self-relegated from the Daau Super League last season along with Tenjong Pegar United FC.
Mataba DPMM has been promoted due to Daas FC self-relegating to Daau League due to transfer bans and financial issues from last season.
