Autostrade of Vegno
The Autostrade (Vegnian: [autoˈstraːde]; singular autostrada [autoˈstraːda]) are roads forming the Vegnese national system of motorways. The motorway system is not very developed yet and consists of three main highways: A1, A2 and A3. Other routes are already planned to be built in the next years, especially after the enlargment of Vegno after the 1707 Vegno Annexation Referendum. On road signs, autostrade destinations are shown in blue.
Traffic laws
Vegno's autostrade must not be used by:
- Pedestrians and animals (except in rest areas)
- Pedal-cycles
- Mopeds
- Motorcycles having an engine displacement less than 150 cubic centimetres (9.2 cu in) (if equipped with an internal combustion engine)
- Sidecars having an engine displacement less than 250 cc (15 cu in) (if equipped with an internal combustion engine)
- Motorized tricycles designed for the transport of people with up to 2 seats having an engine displacement less than 250 cc (15 cu in) (if equipped with an internal combustion engine) or having an engine power less than 15 kilowatts (20 PS; 20 bhp)
- Motorcycle-like vehicles (motoveicoli) not included in previous categories having an empty vehicle weight up to 400 kg (880 lb) or a gross vehicle mass up to 1,300 kg (2,900 lb)
- Cars with a design speed on flat road less than 80 kilometres per hour (50 mph)
- Vehicles without tyres
- Agricultural vehicles and technical vehicles (e.g. heavy equipment)
Safe driving
Vegno has the following speed limits for limited access roads classified as motorways:
- Under normal conditions - 130 km/h (80 mph)
- In rain or wet road conditions - 110 km/h (70 mph)
- In heavy fog or snowy/icy conditions - 50 km/h (30 mph)
Several sections of the Vegnese Highways are equipped with an automatic system called Tutor with automatic license plate recognition, which checks the average speed of all vehicles over a road stretch.

A1
The Autostrada A1, nicknamed Grande Autostrada ("The Big Highway"), is the oldest vegnese Highway and also the most important in Vegno. The highway links the largest cities in the old territory of Vegno: Murgione, Cossa, Mhazar and Agropl. It is the longest Vegnese autostrada as it stands, and it's already planned to extend the A1 up to Sancrus, using the new open Strait of Vegno bridge, in order to link the continental side of Vegno to the Falange island.
The A1 reduced a lot the travel time between Murgione and Agropl in compare to using the normal roads.
A2
Autostrada A2, otherwise known as the Piccola Autostrada ("the Small Highway"), is a vegnese highway in the south of Vegno, which links the cites of Mhazar and Murgione. The two cities were already linked withe the A1, but the travel time was too much high in compare to the distance between them, so the building of this highway reduced a lot the time needed to reach Mhazar from Murgione without passing through Cossa.
