The Royal Commandos were formed from the amalgamation of the 5th Skirmishers and 1st New Sussex Guards Regiments. The purpose of the newly formed regiment was to undertake raids behind enemy lines and harass hostile forces. Following the Evacuations and the Great Disaster the regiment was disbanded, however during the re-establishment of the Kingdom of Nova England the regiment was re-instated and recruited exclusively from former serving members.
