Rupert Hinton (born 1665 in Steigen, then in Hålogarike, Stormark) is a Lac Glaceian politician who served as Chamberlain of Lac Glacei from the re-establishment of the state in 1693 until his retirement in 1750. His protégé, Michel Maillard succeeded him to the position.
Growing up in Stormark (as all of Lac Glacei at this time was part of), Hinton's earliest political ideas were shaped by his resentment toward the Vanic hierarchies, and the constant visible injustice in society, favouring the Haraldite elite over the common people.
After the collapse of Stormark in 1685, Hinton joined other Glaceian ideological and paramilitary groups to bring order in the Glaceian region. He allied himself with Orion II, who had proclaimed himself Grand Duke in 1689. Despite Hinton's democratic and antimonarchic leanings, the two managed to come up with a constitutional compromise that established democratic accountability and decentralization, while protecting the grand ducal traditions of the state. By 1693, the Lac Glaceian dukists managed to secure enough land to have their sovereignty recognized. Hinton was made the first internationally recognized chamberlain at this point.
After his retirement, Hinton became a vocal critic of the Nü Krantisk Rapskaff, devoting his time denouncing what he terms "fascist elements bringing our country down".
