Île des Ombres (Isle of Shadows) is an unincorporated territory of Oportia located in Corum, serving as a strategic military outpost established during the Corsair Resurgence. The island gained notoriety as the site of the disastrous Battle of Île des Ombres in VII.1744 AN, where Oportian Security Forces suffered devastating losses to the Confederacy of the Dispossessed, including the sinking of the flagship ONV Liberté and the capture of Admiral Henri Boulanger.
Following the successful Battle of Serpent's Reef in XI.1744 AN, Commodore Joseph Fouche ordered the occupation of the island, transforming it from a symbol of military humiliation into a forward naval base for monitoring regional waters. The island's largest and only permanent settlement, Boulanger, was named posthumously in honor of Admiral Henri Boulanger, who was executed in Dispossessed captivity, and serves as the administrative center for the territory's estimated 3,200-4,500 residents, consisting primarily of military personnel and support staff.
