The 1723 New Alexandrian census is the sixth and upcoming census to be conducted by the government of Nouvelle Alexandrie since its formation in 1685 AN. The census shall be conducted by the Department of Interior and will continue to allow for participation online via a secure form or an app, in person, or via mail.

The previous census in 1718 counted a total of 288,651,042 inhabitants in Nouvelle Alexandrie. Projections by demographers and the Department of Interior have estimated that the 1723 census will likely find approximately 317,200,000 inhabitants in the Federation. The census shall determine the apportionment of seats in the Federal Assembly ahead of the 1723 general election to account for the admission of New Caputia to the Federation.

Background

The last official census for Nouvelle Alexandrie was conducted in 1718 AN by the Department of Interior prior to the 1718 general elections. The 1718 census counted a total of 288,651,042 inhabitants in Nouvelle Alexandrie, noting a substantial increase in population, attributed to the admission of the Region of Boriquén into the Federation after Operation Purple Splendor.

With the admission of the Region of New Caputia, the 1723 census is expected to also note a similar increase in the population of the Federation, as well as significant immigration from several Raspur Pact countries and from the Keltian Green, especially in light of the Wars of the Dispossessed.

Questions and Format

The 1723 New Alexandrian census emulated the successes found by the 1718 New Alexandrian census in its comprehensive questionnaire and data collection systems. The questionnaire included questions about household composition, age, gender, occupation, income, education, and housing conditions, among other relevant demographic and socioeconomic factors.

Participants of the census can complete the census via a paper form that can be mailed, an online secure form, or a government-created secure app on a cellular device. For all the options described, the government provided vast availability for participants to be assisted by a census enumerator in person or over the phone. The government also deployed census enumerators in person to remote or rural areas of the Federation, especially in New Caputia, to ensure a full and accurate count as local systems are built and scaled up.
