Sutherland is the name of a governorate and its northern bailiwick in the Sovereign Confederation. It is the homeland of the Sutherlanders, who settled the region in the early 17th century at the the behest of the newly ennobled Ryker Everstone. It is from them that much of the modern Confederation's cultural and legal abnormalities were derived.
